The process of obtaining insurance (regardless of the nature of the coverage) feels more like extortion than protection. The main selling points use fear to make the sale, while the illusion of a successful claims filing lulls the "insured" into a false sense of security. What other contract can you execute where one party, the insurance company, doesn't really disclose the terms (i.e., what it definitely will or will not pay for)? Insurance companies are businesses who are organized to generate profit, not do social work. Should they be allowed to dictate the quality of life we experience, and in some cases, determine who lives or dies?
