Although I did do a little bit of shopping on Black Friday, for the deals, I try to avoid the mob scene. I agree that people buy stuff they don't need or really want.

I am glad that we bought our live Christmas tree from a local nursery instead of going to Home Depot like last year. Even though it was more expensive, the quality is so much better and I feel better about shopping local!

I understand what you mean and agree that the whole movement can't be reduced to ONLY occupying plots of land. I, too, sense some urgency in converting the political capital raised by these brave individuals into concrete political action.

I think we'll start to see this in the next week or two. Everyone has a part to play in the success of #OWS - those who can camp do so and face the increasingly brutal evictions. Those who can't occupy can write, call, fax, tweet, mail, and contact our legislators and government officials and makes SURE this energy becomes focused.

In two months #OWS has changed the conversation. I'm kind of amazed and grateful and guilty that people my age let it get so bad.

I'm starting to wonder if the Occupy movement getting kicked out of their encampments might be a blessing in disguise--since, as the Post article shows (along with the fact that the Post is desperate and will do anything to discredit OWS...remember, this is the paper that said McCain was leading in the polls the weekend before the 2008 elections, and that publishes viciously racist and homophobic cartoonist Sean Delonas), and, actually, as much recent coverage shows, OWS is increasingly being reduced to a movement about people camping in parks and fighting for the right to camp in parks. Maybe it's time to move into a new phase with less emphasis on tents in public places
